Filipino singer Matty Juniosa is making waves on the international stage after earning a Golden Buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent, marking a major breakthrough in his music career.

In a recent episode of the talent competition, the 27-year-old performer—who is currently based in Glasgow, United Kingdom—opened up about his personal struggles and motivation for joining the show.
“I’ve been waiting for this chance to finally put an end to this long thing that I’ve been thinking of about myself that I will always be a singing competition loser,” Juniosa said.
Juniosa previously competed in Idol Philippines in 2019 but did not win, an experience he admitted left him with lingering self-doubt. He now works as a part-time waiter while continuing to pursue his passion for music.
During his audition, Juniosa delivered a powerful rendition of ‘Purple Rain’ by Prince, which earned a standing ovation from both the audience and judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and KSI.
Impressed by the performance, Cowell praised the singer before hitting the Golden Buzzer.
“You’re the kind of artist where I would say you want to put like eight spoonfuls of sugar in your tea. You put about 10,000 in this, I think, is the biggest reaction we’ve had from anyone. So why not?” Cowell said.
The Golden Buzzer automatically advances Juniosa to the semi-finals of the competition, bypassing further audition rounds.
