Actor Romnick Sarmenta drew attention online after criticizing the government’s handling of ongoing issues in the Philippines, particularly its stance on prioritizing revenue concerns.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sarmenta expressed frustration, saying it was disheartening that authorities appeared more focused on potential revenue losses than on addressing the needs of citizens.
“It is atrocious that the government is more concerned about losing revenues than helping the very citizenry they are supposed to serve,” he wrote.
He further emphasized his point by questioning the burden placed on the public.
“That message simply says ‘kami mawawalan.’ So dapat talaga, kami mahirapan para sa inyo? Mga inutil. Oo. Sinabi ko,” he added.

The actor’s remarks quickly sparked mixed reactions from netizens, with some agreeing with his sentiments while others defended the need for government revenue to sustain public services.
Several online users echoed his criticism, pointing to perceived disconnects between policymakers and ordinary Filipinos. Others, however, argued that maintaining revenue streams is essential for funding government programs and services.
