Six years after its historic shutdown in 2020, ABS-CBN reflected on its transformation from a traditional broadcast network into what it now describes as a “global storytelling company,” underscoring both its strategic progress and continued commitment to Filipino audiences.

In an official statement released on Monday, the company highlighted how it has evolved following the loss of its free-to-air franchise, noting significant strides “strategically and financially” as it pivoted toward content creation and digital distribution.
“Today marks the sixth year of ABS-CBN’s journey from a broadcast network to a global storytelling company following its broadcast shutdown in 2020.”
ABS-CBN emphasized that despite the shift, its core mission remains unchanged—telling Filipino stories that resonate across platforms while maintaining its role as a source of credible and relevant news.
“Since then, we have made significant progress strategically and financially, as we transform into a content company that continues to tell Filipino stories that bring joy, inspiration, and entertainment as well as deliver credible, relevant, and accurate news to our audiences.”
The company also took the opportunity to thank its stakeholders, including partners, advertisers, artists, journalists, and employees, as well as its loyal audience base, for their continued trust and support throughout the transition.
“We take this moment to express our heartfelt thanks to our partners, advertisers, artists, journalists, workers, and most especially, our audiences for their trust and belief, and for standing with us through this journey.”
Acknowledging its current status, ABS-CBN reiterated that while it no longer operates as a free-to-air broadcaster, its public service commitment remains intact.
“While we no longer operate as a free-to-air broadcast network, our commitment to create meaningful content and be in the service of the Filipino people and our audiences remains firm.”
The statement closed with a message of gratitude to its supporters, whom it credited for enabling the company to continue its work in storytelling and public service.
“Your unwavering support enables us to continue what we do. Maraming salamat, Kapamilya.”
