The Philippines premiere stand-up comic with back-to-back number one Netflix specials is at it again. This time, Alex Calleja is going back to Japan to make more Pinoys laugh with “TAWANAN SA JAPAN,” a live stand-up comedy show to be held at the Yokosuka Arts Theater on June 13, 2026.
“Pangalawang balik namin ito sa Japan this year kaya nagpapasalamat kami sa Filipino community doon sa kanilang walang sawang suporta at mainit na pagtanggap sa aming mga shows,” Calleja said. The show will be rounded out with The Comedy Crew mainstays Israel Buenaobra, Yuki Horikoshi, Dawit Tabonares, and Grease Junio.
Filipinos are the 4th largest foreign resident group in Japan with more than 350,000 Pinoys working in manufacturing, healthcare, and service industries across 47 prefectures. More than 75% of these Filipinos hold long-term or permanent resident statuses as per Google analytics.
“Ang sipag ng mga kababayan natin sa Japan. Focus sila sa trabaho, yung iba bihira pang umuwi. Kaya kami naman ang magpapasaya sa kanila,” Calleja added.
Alex and The Comedy Crew previously held three shows in Tokyo in 2025, and one each in Saitama, Gotemba, and Nagoya this year. His first theater show in Yokosuka will be the biggest one yet.
