Singer Bugoy Drilon has become a trending topic online after netizens noticed his dramatic transformation and began comparing him to actor Derek Ramsay.

The former ‘Pinoy Dream Academy’ runner-up recently went viral after screenshots from one of his livestreams circulated on social media.
In the clips, Bugoy was seen wearing a blue cap and white polo shirt, with many viewers saying he resembled Derek Ramsay, particularly because of his facial hair, fairer complexion, and more mature features.
Several netizens admitted they initially thought it was Derek before reading the caption.
“Bumungad ta’s hindi ko pa nababasa caption, sabi ko kagad, ‘Ano na naman issue nitong Derek na ‘to.’ Maliiiii,” one online user commented.
“First look pa lang. Si Derek talaga napansin ko agad. Kung wala sa caption name ni Bugoy. ‘Di ko malalaman si Bugoy pala ‘yan. Haha! Hawig na hawig nga,” another wrote.
Even singer Kris Lawrence reportedly jokingly referred to him as “Derek.”
However, alongside the praise came accusations from some bashers claiming that Bugoy had undergone cosmetic enhancements.
“Retokado! ‘Di naman ganyan itsura mo dati,” one netizen commented on Bugoy’s post.
The singer quickly denied undergoing plastic surgery and instead credited self-care and personal improvement for his transformation.
“Maging mabuting tao, ’yan po sikreto… all natural po ’yan,” Bugoy replied.
When the basher continued questioning him and joked that being a good person had not changed their appearance, Bugoy further explained: “Sunog lang po ako dati sa araw at payat. Siyempre may tulong na rin ng facial cleaning and skin treatment. ’Yan na sinabi ko sa’yo lahat ng sikreto, hehehe.”

Many netizens came to Bugoy’s defense, saying his transformation was simply the result of healthier living, proper skincare, and natural “glow up.”
“Grabeee, porket nag-glow up retokado na agad,” one commenter wrote.
Another added, “Glow up po ang tawag diyan!”
Bugoy first rose to fame in 2008 after finishing as runner-up in the second season of ‘Pinoy Dream Academy’. Before entering showbiz, he worked as a canteen janitor at a university and came from a humble family in Camarines Sur.
Over the years, he established himself as an R&B and soul artist and even collaborated with international music act Music Travel Love in 2024.
