Suki Healthwatch expands access to free blood pressure & sugar screening in Mercury Drug Branches

Hypertension affects one in three adults in the Philippines, or about 16.8 million people, yet many cases remain undetected due to limited screening and low awareness of warning signs.

A ceremonial blood pressure check was held during the Suki Healthwatch launch, underscoring the shared commitment of Boehringer Ingelheim Philippines, Mercury Drug Corporation, and the Philippine Society of Hypertension to strengthen early detection of hypertension. The activity highlights the importance of regular screening and accessible community care in helping Filipinos detect health risks early and take proactive steps toward better long-term health.

To help address this gap, Boehringer Ingelheim Philippines, in partnership with Mercury Drug Corporation and the Philippine Society of Hypertension (PSH), launched Suki Healthwatch, a community-based initiative expanding access to free blood pressure and blood sugar screening for Filipinos.

The program will run from May to July 2026 across participating Mercury Drug branches, starting with initial screening on May 16–17 and May 30–31.

“Many Filipinos remain unaware that they are living with hypertension until complications arise,” said Dr. Bin Wang, General Manager, Boehringer Ingelheim Philippines. “We are committed to transforming lives for generations by improving access to early detection and care. Through Suki Healthwatch, Boehringer Ingelheim, together with our trusted healthcare partners, we aim to empower more Filipinos to know any health risks, act early, and control of their cardiovascular health.”

The initiative aligns with Hypertension Awareness Month and the global May Measure Month (MMM26) campaign, reinforcing a shared commitment to improving awareness, enabling early detection, and strengthening access to preventive healthcare services within communities.

Through Suki Healthwatch, Filipinos can access free blood pressure screening, blood sugar testing, and on-site doctor consultations in participating Mercury Drug branches. During these consultations, doctors guide patients in understanding their results, provide basic health advice, and support follow-up care. The initiative helps patients understand their results, recognize risks, and take early action for better long-term health.

“As cases of high blood pressure continue to rise, Hypertension Awareness Month is a timely reminder for Filipinos to take proactive steps in understanding and managing their health,” said Corazon Lim, Vice President for Merchandising, Mercury Drug Corporation. “We encourage our Suki customers to visit participating Mercury Drug stores, know their numbers, and take charge of their health, because early detection can make a meaningful difference.”

The program will be conducted across selected Mercury Drug branches:

A shared commitment for better health outcomes

Suki Healthwatch brings together Mercury Drug, the Philippine Society of Hypertension, and Boehringer Ingelheim in a shared effort to improve access to preventive care in communities. By combining strong community reach with clinical expertise, the initiative provides accessible screening services while enabling more Filipinos to seek timely and appropriate care.

Through initiatives like Suki Healthwatch, Boehringer Ingelheim reaffirms its commitment to improving cardiovascular and metabolic health and advancing sustainable healthcare solutions through meaningful partnerships. Together with trusted healthcare stakeholders, the company continues to drive efforts that support early detection, close care gaps, and ultimately improve health outcomes for Filipino patients.

Visit the nearest participating Mercury Drug branch, know your status, and take the first step toward better health.
