In a now-deleted Instagram post, Kris Aquino dropped hints that the Kapamilya network did not promote her comeback movie I Love You, Hater enough. Kris admitted that she was initially disappointed at the movie’s box-office performance in the first two days, and that if it were to be end up a box-office flop, she was ready to take the blame.
No guest appearance
Kris wondered why she was not given a chance to promote the movie in an ABS-CBN show. Star Cinema would later announce that the movie earned Php 40 million in its first four days in theaters. Many of Kris’s friends and followers held a block screening to show their support.
“Right of usage”
In a lengthy litany, Kris revealed why she made the movie. She wanted to have the right of usage to ABS-CBN’s video archives, particularly of footage where she and her two children Josh and Bimby were with Kris’s mom and the boys’ grandmother, the late President Cory Aquino.
“TRUTH: Ginawa ko ang “i love you hater” dahil ito lang yung paraan, at naging bahagi ng kontrata ko, para mabigyan ako ng “right of usage” sa video archives ng ABS CBN para sa footage na kasama ko, ni kuya josh, at ni bimb ang MOM ko, LOLA CORY nila. Yun lang po ang hinangad ko-na maging amin din ng mga anak ko yung MEMORIES na yun.”
Kris to blame?
On the other hand, Kris lauded the people behind Star Cinema for believing in her and treating her well. “Ang mga bumubuo ng @starcinema lamang ang nagparamdam sa kin na TAO pa rin ang tingin nila sa kin. Kaya nga po paulit ulit kong sinabi sa mga fans & followers- para sa kanila at sa #JoshLia sa akin na ang pagsisi kung hindi man maging box office hit… Pero pinanindigan at pinaglalaban nyo ko. Kusa kayong gumagastos at nago-organize. “
Still grateful
In the end, Kris Aquino expressed her gratefulness to the public for the unwavering support. “Kaya PROMISE para sa inyo- maninindigan ako na walang kailangan apakan… Magiging tapat at totoo… Gagawin ang lahat para matumbasan ang kabutihan, suporta, at pagmamahal na binigay dahil naramdaman nyong kinailangan ko kayo… Tatanaw ng UTANG NA LOOB ang isang hindi perpekto, pero totoong Kris Aquino.”
