Good news for Filipinos!

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is offering free internet service in the country through Internet.org. The free application, which is available to Smart, Sun, and Talk & Text subscribers, will let Filipinos have access to internet services for communication, health, and education.

[box]On his Facebook page, Zuckerberg posted: “We’re one step closer to connecting the world as we launched Internet.org in the Philippines today. Now everyone in the country can have free access to internet services for health, education, jobs and communication on the Smart network.”[/box]

The social network founder also shared a photo of a tricycle driver from Manila named Jaime, who uses the internet to communicate with his family in Dubai.

Internet.org, a Facebook-led initiative, aims to connect the majority of the world that don’t have internet access with technology leaders, nonprofits and local communities.

According to RachFeed, Internet.org allows users to browse sites  such as Facebook, Jobstreet, OLX.ph, Wattpad, Wikipedia, and Female Network for free.

In 2014, Zuckerberg launched Internet.org in Kenya, Tanzania, and Zambia. This year, free internet service from Facebook has been offered to Ghana, India, and the Philippines.

To download the Internet.org app, text INTERNET to 9999 or simply get it from the Google Playstore. Do remember to remain in the Internet.org website or Internet.org application to avoid any data charge.
