Actor Derek Ramsay has signed an exclusive contract with GMA Network, ending his seven-month hiatus from showbiz. Among the Kapuso talents who welcomed Derek Ramsay after signing an exclusive contract with GMA Network is Jennylyn Mercado, an acctress who used to be his leading lady in movies ‘English Only Please’ in 2014 at ‘All of You’ in 2017.
Baby E of Pang Masa revealed that the network’s movie arm, GMA Pictures, is cooking something for the newest Kapuso recruit Derek Ramsay to showcase on this year’s Metro Manila Filmfest (MMFF) 2019.
Ramsay became a Kapamilya talent from year 2005 to 2010.
During his almost two-decades in showbiz industry, he has starred in numerous TV series and films including Dan Villegas’ entry to the 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), ‘English Only, Please,’ a role for which he won a Best Actor trophy. In 2017, he once again won Best Actor for another Villegas film, ‘All of You,’ a 2017 entry to the MMFF.
In both films, he starred with actress Jennylyn Mercado who is also a GMA Network star.
Among his other films are ‘No Other Woman’ (2011) and ‘Trophy Wife’ (2014).
During his stint in TV5, he hosted ‘The Amazing Race Philippines’ in 2012 and 2014 and was the lead actor in 2013 series, ‘Undercover.’
Now that he is under GMA Network’s care, he announced that he will be starring alongside Andrea Torres in the upcoming primetime series, ‘The Better Woman.’
The show, which will start taping in mid-April, is about a woman with two characters.
