  • The newest singing competition show of ABS-CBN, ‘Search for the Idol Philippines’ aired its pilot episode last Sunday, April 21
  • The show’s first telecast fared well in the ratings game as it topped both NUTAM (Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement) and Kantar Media surveys against its rival show, ‘Studio 7′
  • ABS-CBN relies to Kantar Media while GMA Network gets their data from NUTAM

The pilot episode of the newest singing competition program of ABS-CBN, ‘Search for the Idol Philippines,’ have won the interest of many televiewers. Regine Velazquez-Alcasid, Moira Dela Torre, James Reid, and Vice Ganda serve as the judges of the show, who will help to find the next ‘Idol.’  And just as we expected it, Billy Crawford hosts the show.

‘Idol Philippines’ replaced ‘World of Dance Philippines’ that ended on April 14.

The pilot telecast of the program showed the first batch of singing aspirants who auditioned for the show. Everyone had the talent but only 3 aspirants were given the chance to move on to the next round. They are Juancho Gabriel, Angie Kristine, and Renwick Benito.

In terms of the ratings game, the show fared well as it topped both NUTAM (Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement) and Kantar Media surveys against its rival show, ‘Studio 7.’

According to Kantar Media, the show’s pilot telecast garnered a nationwide rating of 30.6%, while Studio 7 only got a 13.2% rating.

AGB Nielsen’s NUTAM, on the other hand, also favored ‘Idol Philippines’ that recorded 12.7%, while ‘Studio 7′ got a rating of 7.1%.

Clear and with no bias, the numbers show that ‘Idol Philippines’ is the no.1 weekend program for April 21.
