- Kate Valdez is now starring in Anak ni Waray vs. Anak ni Biday series
Kate Valdez still can’t believe that she is now part of GMA Network’s newest primetime show, Anak ni Waray vs. Anak ni Biday along with Barbie Forteza, GMA Network’s Primetime Princess.
Kate said, “I couldn’t believe it kasi I’d be playing one of the lead roles. Tapos, si Barbie pa ang kasama ko. Nang mag-sink in sa akin, I have nothing but gratitude in my heart. Kasi very big blessing ito at very big break din for me as my last role was as contrabida in ‘Onanay’ na maraming viewers ang nagalit sa’kin dahil sa kamalditahan ng character ko.”
The young star had her last teleserye, Onanay, in 2018 playing the villain Natalie. However, it was also this time when rumors about her attitude problem and sense of entitlement came up. It was alleged that she was booted out from GMA’s Studio 7 for this reason.
But Kate has denied this.
She said, “I really don’t know kung saan nanggaling ang tsismis na ‘yun. You can ask the people I worked with in ‘Onanay’ and I was on good terms with them. So ngayon, heto, may bago na akong show, hopefully, matitigil na ‘yang ganyang tsismis. Wala naman akong karapatang mag-attitude kasi baguhan pa lang ako so, bakit naman ako gagawa ng binibintang nila sa akin?”
Meanwhile, Kate said she was grateful that her co-stars in “Anak ni Waray vs. Anak ni Biday” are all very kind to her.

“Ms. Dina Bonnevie plays my mother, lola ko naman si Ms. Celia Rodriguez, and I really welcome the chance to work with them kasi napakababait nila. They’re so generous in sharing their wealth of experience in showbiz with a newcomer like me. Para nga akong kumukuha ng acting workshop sa kanila because of their valuable advice.”
She then praised her co-star Barbie who gave her a warm welcome.
“Mas senior siya sa’kin at ang dami na niyang nagawang shows na siya ang bida, pero wala siyang ere at all. She welcomed me warmly sa familiarity workshop pa lang namin. Then we got even closer nang magkasama kami shooting some of our scenes on location sa Tacloban in Leyte and in some towns in Ilocos. The show imparts important messages about family values dahil it will turn out na magkapatid pala kami rito ni Barbie sa ama. Nagpapasalamat talaga akong napasama ako sa ganito kalaki at kagandang show,” Kate shared.
Kate plays the role of Caitlyn, an Ilocana girl who dreams of making it big as a vlogger. She will be an antagonist to Ginalyn, a diligent and optimistic Waray girl portrayed by Barbie.
Kate is also known for her role as Violet in Destiny Rose, and as Mira in Encantadia.
She discovered her knack for acting when she started joining school plays. She then signed a contract with GMA Artist Center in 2015.
