Multi-awarded Filipino filmmaker Jay Altarejos slammed The Voice coach Lea Salonga for reposting a meme about people complaining about the enhanced community quarantine.
Jay criticized Lea for being narrow-minded and said: “Sabagay kung ang exposure mo nga naman sa kalagayan ng buhay ay MS SAIGON… Tangama, yung mga maralita ba may Netflix, may mga hi-nord na pagkain? Ne, di lang pala limited ang range ng boses mo, pati utak mo.”
Moreover, Lea published a long reflective post on her official Facebook page on how people managed to stay at home during the ‘enhanced community quarantine’ and shared how her family has dealt with the quarantine.
Lea wrote: “At my house, it’s been homework and TV shows for Nic, Castlevania for me, video games, workouts, writing, and finding yarn for possible needlework projects.”
On the same thread, Lea confirmed that one of her cousins residing in Los Angeles had tested positive for COVID-19.

In addition to that, the Miss Saigon star said staying at home was not applicable for everyone, as the daily wage earner has to provide food on the table that will lead some of our countrymen to start pointing fingers to the government.
“It’s easy for many of us to flippantly recommend staying at home, but how do we recommend that to daily wage earner? To people that are with their families, but are now unable to provide for them? What do we do? Point fingers? Blame the government for its delays in taking action?”

In the last part of Lea’s reflective post, she thanked everyone who has been providing funds, support and protective gear and she looks forward to the day that COVID-19 will be inconsequential.

The enhanced community quarantine imposed on Luzon took effect last March 17, 2020 as the number of confirmed coronavirus cases has increased to 187.
The quarantine entails the following:
- Classes and any school activities are suspended
- Private companies should implement work from home arrangement
- Strict home quarantine for everyone in the Philippines
- Mass gatherings are prohibited
- Only private establishments providing basic necessities are allowed to continue their operation such as grocery and convenience stores, hospitals, medical clinics, pharmacies, and drug stores
- Mass public transport facilities and providers including Grab, Angkas, and Joyride are suspended
- Land, air and sea travel are restricted
