  • This kind of incident happens all over the world

Kapamilya star Enchong Dee reacted to the incident where residents of Sitio San Roque staged a rally to request for relief goods and were arrested later on in a scuffle with police.

In his Twitter post, he said that no one can stop a starving population if the government won’t act fast. He also said that this kind of incident happens all over the world. And the government exists to serve the people.

If our govt wont act fast, no one can stop a starving population from looting, rallying, or fighting for what they deserve. It’s only a matter of time. Not being a pessimist but we’ve seen this incident happen all over the world. Govts exist to fully serve the people. #Ideally https://t.co/6JQ4nmjBFx

Based on the initial report of Masabong police, there were 20 protesters from barangay Bagong Pag-asa who were arrested “for staging a rally without any permit issued by proper authorities.”

On Wednesday, the Militant group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) condemned the arrest of some Quezon City residents who were starving and demanded food or financial assistance from the government.

“Mariin naming kinokondena ang pandarahas at pag-aresto sa mga taong nagugutom at humihingi ng pagkain at kagyat na tulong mula sa gobyerno,” Bayan secretary-general Renato Reyes said.
