Despite ABS-CBN being shut down, the network vowed to continue helping the Filipino people amid the COVID-19 health crisis.
On May 5, many Filipinos were surprised and saddened by the Cease and Desist Order against ABS-CBN network filed by the National Telecommunication Commission (NTC). The Kapamilya network took immediate action and announced that they were going off-air.
Though the Kapamilya network is on off-air, it vowed to continue helping the Filipino through the COVID-19 crisis.
Sagip Kapamilya is determined to continue delivering food packs to those who are in need of help. As of this report, 700,000 families in 17 parts of Metro Manila and barangays in Rizal, Cavite, Bulacan, and Laguna provinces were given food packs.
ABS-CBN and the ABS-CBN Foundation Inc.’s Pantawid ng Pag-ibig fundraising campaign has already raised 350 million in cash donations and pledges for the benefit of over 600,000 families affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon.
Pantawid ng Pag-ibig also served thousands of frontliners and volunteers with free meals and snacks sponsored by partner organizations.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is grateful to the ABS-CBN network for helping the Filipino amid the pandemic.
