Actress-singer and known Duterte government critic Agot Isidro has again blasted the government over its response to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) report on the rising cases of COVID-19 in the country.
In her tweet, Agot called out the government for being in denial about the WHO report saying “numbers don’t lie”.

Agot’s tweet pertains to DILG Sec. Eduardo Anos’ recent interview on ANC saying the country is still doing good in its fight against COVID-19.
“If you can look at the figures, most of these new positive cases were coming from particular regions, Region 7, National Capital Region, and Region 8. But for the rest of the country, we are doing good,” Año said.
“As we increased our testing capacities, actually we expected that more positive will turn out but if we will look at the positivity rate, we are about five to six percent positivity rate, our target is to go to around three percent and probably one percent.
“So you see, we are doing good compared to other countries like the United States, Brazil. Somehow we are able to contain [the spread of the virus] in the whole country,” he added.
Anos’ response came after a WHO report put the Philippines at the top of the list of Western Pacific countries with the highest rise in COVID-19 infection. Data from the WHO showed the Philippines registering 8,143 new cases since June 16, the highest among 22 countries in the region.
With the easing of community quarantines on May 15, the country has recorded a total of 22,935 new cases, including 738 new infections last Saturday. This represents almost 66% of the total 34,803 cases nationwide.
Among the WHO’s Western Pacific members, the spread of the virus is most notable in the Philippines and Singapore.
