Kapamilya actress Ryza Cenon commented about Congress denying ABS-CBN’s application for a franchise renewal, effectively “killing” the network and the livelihood of 11,000 employees.
It was on July 10, that Congress passed a verdict not granting ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal application. With this the company was forced to operate on even more limited capacity, thus pushing the company to implement a retrenchment program to enable its operations to continue on other avenues.
Many were disappointed by this since the employees were laid off amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Several celebrities have also broken their silence on the franchise issue and among those is Ryza Cenon.
In her Instagram account, she pointed out that this unfortunate event has enlightened many Filipinos, allowing them to know who are the deserving ones in the position and who aren’t.
“Ang liwanag na hatid mo sa aming lahat ang sya nag bigay ng linaw kung sinu sino ang nararapat at hindi nararapat. Kung sino ang sakim sa sarili nilang bayan at kung sino ang may malasakit sa taong bayan. At higit sa lahat, pinakita mo sa amin ang mga totoong kulay ng kanilang budhi.”
She further said that she and the supporters will continue to fight till the end for ABS-CBN.
“Lumaban ka hanggang sa huli, kaya’t lalaban kami para sayo hanggang sa huli.. hindi man kami sama sama sa pakikipaglaban ngunit iisa ang sinisigaw ng aming mga puso… #ibalikangabscbn.”

In her previous interview, when asked about her opinion regarding the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN, she stated that she does not worry much about it because she trusts the network.
“Hindi ako natatakot, kasi may tiwala ako sa Viva at sa ABS-CBN,” she added.
Ryza started her showbiz career after winning the ultimate survivor in the second season of StartStruck and from then on she appeared in numerous GMA network shows.
In April 2018, she finally became a Kapamilya talent and had her first appearance in the ABS-CBN primetime show FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano and her last project was in the action series The General’s Daughter before the network was shut down.
