Issue of copycat is not far from resolution. Not just yet.
When one network come up with a new show, definitely the other has one too. Intentional or not, each character, genre or idea, is almost the same. The challenge is how they will differ with the production designs, so that it would be different to the rival network?
Not just one, but more segments or shows, have been differentiated from one another between GMA Network and ABS-CBN.
Remember when “It’s Showtime” had “That’s My Tomboy”, the “Eat Bulaga” then have “That’s My Tambay.” No one admitted that the idea was copied from “wherever”, but that goes on with the history.
When Pastillas Girl came out, netizens immediately judged that she is to contend the very popular Yaya Dub. Eventually, the two ladies were compared, and the competition between the two networks tightened. One of the hosts of Eat Bulaga even posted cryptic tweets regarding “copying”.
Talking about replicating, let’s talk about this new show of GMA Network “Princess in the Palace,” starring the youngest female host of the country Ryza Mae Dizon. A story about a young girl who will touch everybody’s life with her joy, wit and wisdom.
Isn’t that the same story and idea with the Kapamilya’s “Ningning?”
Although Ningning was aired first, GMA Network cannot deny the fact that it is almost the same story as ABS-CBN.
Young girl versus young girl. Both will tackle the importance of values and how will they affect the life of people around them. Who will inspire the most? Now, who’s copying who?
