Singer Bituin Escalante tweeted a photo of President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Bong Go while criticizing the two for not wearing masks.

On her Twitter account, Escalante captioned a photo of the two not wearing masks. She then noted that it was for the sake of photo ops. Then, she added the hashtag #WearAMaskSaveALife.

“Yung poon at pambansang alalay ayaw mag face mask kasi Sayang ang photo op. #WearAMaskSaveALife,” said Escalante.

Escalante previously admitted to voting for Duterte due to misplaced anger. She then cleared things up that she loves her country more than she does the President.

The photo in question shows Pres. Duterte during his visit to Albay and the victims of the super typhoon Rolly alongside Go. Both were not wearing their masks while the crowd they visited showed little to no physical distancing.

Spokesperson Harry Roque came to Pres. Duterte’s defense with the statement that the President exposed himself to the threat of COVID-19 when he visited residents of Albay. To which experts countered that wearing a face mask also protects those around the President during his visit.

“Kung natanggal man ‘yung mask nya, ‘yung danger na ‘yun ay nasa Presidente, pero hindi po niya matiis ang mga Bicolano, pinuntahan nya. He exposed himself to the threat of COVID-19,” said Spokesperson Roque.
