Actress Iza Calzado applauded Charlie Dizon’s win as the best actress for the Metro Manila Film Festival 2020.
On Instagram, she expressed her joy over the achievement of Dizon considering that she is a neophyte in the film industry.
“Tonight, I feel blessed to witness a star shine brighter,” she said.
Calzado, who was also nominated for her role in Tagpuan, divulged that Dizon was her bet for the award.
“I know we were nominated in the same category but I was really rooting for you.”
She also admitted that she was thrilled when Dizon mentioned her during her speech.
“It gives me a sense of purpose beyond self and that is a great gift.”

More than the award, Calzado feels fulfilled to realize that she became a bridge for Dizon’s journey in the industry.
In Dizon’s acceptance speech, she gave credit to Calzado’s significant role in her to have this project.
“Thank you po sa MMFF at sa MMDA para sa award na ito. Gusto ko po mag thank you kay God kasi binigyan niya ako ng opportunity na mapabilang sa Fan Girl. Miss Iza, thank you dahil ikaw yung naging tulay ko kay direk Tonet para makilala nila ako,” she said.
Dizon was hailed as the Best Actress of MMFF 2020 for her lead role in the movie Fan Girl”.
She competed with prominent actresses including Iza Calzado, Nora Aunor, Ritz Azul, and Sylvia Sanchez.
Aside from Calzado, other celebrities also were rooting for Dizon because of her outstanding performance in the movie.
