Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo has called the attention of Kapamilya artists Agot Isidro and Enchong Dee over their comments about President Duterte’s involvement in the ABS-CBN franchise rejection.
In his online program Counterpoint on Friday, February 12, Panelo questioned the two’s constant criticism of the President. Panelo then asked Agot and Enchong if they are planning to run for elective office.
“Kayong dalawa, Agot Isidro, at ‘saka ito namang batang-batang kababayan nating si Enchong Dee, na nagbigay na naman ng kanilang mga pahayag, dismayado daw sila.
“Mahilig din itong dalawang ito pumasok, ‘no.
“Ano ba kayo? Tatakbo ba kayo ng congressman?
“Tatakbo ba kayong konsehal o barangay kapitan?”
“E, hindi pa nga ninyo alam kung ano puno’t dulo, basta kayo pumapasok,” Panelo said.
Panelo also advised the two to know the facts first before criticizing the president.
“Papakinggan niyo muna. Know your facts. Research bago kayo magsalita,” he added.
Panelo’s statement was in reaction to Agot and Enchong’s tweet last week with regards to President Duterte’s latest tirade against the Kapamilya network.
In her tweet, Agot didn’t minced words in saying that neither NTC or the Congress are the reasons for the ABS-CBN shutdown but Duterte’s orders.
“Siya talaga nag nagpasara sa ABSCBN. Hindi ang kongreso, hindi ang NTC. Si Duterte. Utos niya, simula’t sapul,” Agot tweeted.
Duterte in his weekly recorded public address said that he won’t allow ABS-CBN to operate again even if Congress grants them the necessary franchise it needs unless they pay their tax dues. An issue that has been long settled by the BIR and even DBP during the congressional hearings.
Enchong on the other hand also reacted to the President’s latest remarks.
In his tweet, the Kapamilya young actor questioned Duterte’s fixation with ABS-CBN despite other more pressing problems.
Enchong added that while Duterte deprived ABS-CBN of its franchise, they continue to be of service.
