Is it justifiable to liken EZ Mil to King of Filipino Rap Francis Magalona? Gloc 9 gave his thoughts.
Recently, EZ Mil took the local social media by storm because of his WISH USA Bus performance of his single Panalo.
Apart from EZ Mil’s excellent rapping skill, the historical and socially relevant lyrics and his artistic adaptation of the Cariñosa (a traditional Filipino folk dance) tune–amazed the Filipino people.
His rose to prominence as a rap star–has dubbed him to-be-the-next-Francis M.
Fans likened the late Francis Magalona to rapper EZ Mil. That made people ask Gloc 9‘s thoughts on how he feels about the comparison.
Gloc 9 said that he did not fully accept praises–likening him to Francis M. Likewise, he is not sensitive about Francis M. to be compared to other rap stars.
“Unang-una walang papalit kay Sir Kiks (Francis M.) and kung buhay man si Sir Kiks ganun din naman ang magiging reaction niya dun,” he said.
He then said that EZ Mil or even him cannot ever replace Francis M. because they are all unique from each other.
“Hindi pwedeng palitan si Francis Magalona dahil si Francis Magalona and kaisa-isang Francis Magalona.
“The same way, na hindi pwedeng palitan ng ibang tao si EZ Mil dahil walang ibang EZ Mil sa buong mundo kung hindi siya lang. At ganoon din naman saakin,” he stressed.
He also mentioned that for people to love someone, one must be true to who he is.
To address comparisons to the King of Rap, EZ Mil recognizes these as an honor. However, he wants to be known for being who he is.
“It’s an honor to (be) put in that, props to both of them. Rest in peace to Francis Magalona, and I will continue to forge my way through music in my own way,” said EZ Mil.
EZ Mil also assures that he will continue to produce music about Philippine patriotism.
“Of course, I will always find (a) way to put out records that deal with my patriotism towards my home country.”
