Through the years, ABS-CBN’s much-talked-about red carpet affair never ceased to showcase the best of the best when it comes to creativity, elegance, and sophistication.
Like the editions which came before and after, the 2017 Star Magic Ball did not come short of buzz and extravagance. Headlines filled the next day, and the winners and other showstoppers remained in the spotlight throughout the many days that followed.
As fans and the local entertainment industry were deprived this year of that same glimmer and shine, controversies, and show-stopping moments at the ball, we choose to look back on this annual majestic gathering of stars.
We fixed our lens on the 2017 event, this time.
Here is a roundup of that edition’s brightest and most memorable moments:
Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil were declared the Close-Up Couple of the Night.
They both had the best smile that night, but it was no doubt Soberano’s elegant black gown and Gil’s debonaire looks that ultimately won them the crowd.
Maja Salvador flaunted her curves in her sophisticated Michael Cinco gown.
2017 was Salvador’s year as Wildflower was already ablaze in TV rating and popularity. The now new dabarkads meant serious business when it comes to showcasing her taste in fashion, which very well reflected in her choice that night.
Maymay and Edward dazzled in white and black.
Maymay and Edward conformed to the event’s black and white team when they attended the event together.
Maymay was a ‘stunner in her white backless gown, while Edward was a matinee in his black suit.
Erich Gonzales was a showstopping stunner.
Gonzales seemed to have Lena’s fashion taste as early as 2017. She made her magic well that night, considering the poise and glamour she brought with her when she made her presence felt that night.
Piolo Pascual kept his ultimate leading man charm.
Papa P was still in his ‘hot daddy’ form when he graced the event in a classic perfectly-fitted tuxedo. He truly made his manly elegance work big time for him that night, as he ultimately emerged as among the biggest crowd-pleasers of the night.
Kathryn Bernardo was the Brightest Star of the Night.
She did not need Ponds to name her the Brightest Star of the Night, but it was an extra validation for Kathryn, who attended the event with her usual but phenomenal. Kathryn then was still not the biggest-grossing movie star that she became today, but she was a queen during that night.
Heart Evangelista and Chiz Escudero graced the event.
The presence of Sorsogon’s Governor and her first lady during that night was such a delight. Evangelista brought her usual crowd-stunning elegance, while Escudero complimented her with an equally commanding presence.
Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto were a magical pair.
Love was still in the air when these two flaunted their swoon-worthy charm at the event. Julia was stunning in her white long gown, while Joshua sported his irresistible charisma through his black tuxedo appeal.
Gerald Anderson and Bea Alonzo still had the flame.
Then real-life sweethearts had no reason to hide their sweetness when they attended the event together. Bea Alonzo was never less stunning with her perfectly-fitted white gown, while Anderson carried his usual moviestar looks in his black and white suit.
