Two Key Personalities leave Mayor Isko Moreno’s camp a week after filing his Presidential candidacy

Noli De Castro and Cesar Chavez, two Key personalities in Manila Mayor Isko Moreno’s camp, left a week after filing his candidacy for president.

Chavez resigned from Moreno’s chief of staff post effective October 1, which coincidentally was the first day of the filing for the certificate of candidacy for the 2022 elections. Chavez returned to DZRH after his resignation, claiming there was “no fighting” within Moreno’s camp.

After that, de Castro retracted his bid for the Senatorial seat a week after announcing his plans of running for office. De Castro had already filed his candidacy when he announced the discontinuation of his bid for the Senate. He noted that there was a change of plans on his part, which resulted in his decision.

“I-sinumite ko ang aking kandidatura sa COMELEC noong Biyernes. Ngunit, nagkaroon ng pagbabago ang aking plano.”

However, De Castro thanked Moreno’s camp for their trust in including him in their senatorial slate.

“Nais ko pong magpasalamat kay Mayor Isko Moreno at sa mga bumubuo ng Aksyon Demokratiko sa ibinigay na tiwala at tulong sa akin sa unang araw pa lamang na maging miyembro ako ng Partido. Maraming salamat po.”

De Castro was in Moreno’s senatorial slate at the time he announced his retraction.

Earlier, Moreno came under fire after his remarks against fellow presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo, who ran independently from the opposition party list.

Moreno, later on, issued an apology to fellow candidate VP Robredo, saying it’s water under the bridge.
