Police claim that the two suspects attempted to flee after the vehicle carrying them, along with six police escorts, was fired by three gunmen aboard motorcycles in San Pedro, Laguna. Cadavero and Panongalinga reportedly tried to grab the firearms of their escorts, prompting the authorities to shoot them.
The Commission on Human Rights, however, is not convinced with the claims of the police and believes the incident was a rubout.
