On May 23, Kapamilya actor Piolo Pascual recalled accepting the Pinoy adaptation of Flower of Evil and cited his experience working with Lovers in Paris.
During the media conference for the poster reveal of Flower of Evil, Pascual said he felt excited to work on a project, especially during the pandemic.
“Well, nagsimula tayo sa Lovers in Paris, we adapted that many years ago sa ABS-CBN. And when this was/ pitched to me, that was during the pandemic. I was just really excited to get out of the house to work, to do something.”
He added that he fell in love with the script for the Flower of Evil.
“And, right away hindi ko na talaga siya pinag-isipan. And I watched the Korean version, and I instantly fell in love with it. So for me, there was no that it was the right fit for me.”
Pascual expressed his excitement in showcasing the Pinoy sensibilities in their upcoming series.
“The Pinoy sensibilities are the ones we are excited about. Of course, it’s a Korean series, iba ‘yung story natin, but the way we adapted it is very Pinoy.
“So ‘yun ‘yung nakaka-excite na part dito. So more than the pressure, it’s the excitement in coming up with the challenge na gawin naman na pusong Pinoy and our own version of a very beautiful story.”
Pascual’s Lovers in Paris ran from September to December 2009 on the Kapamilya Network. He starred alongside his former flame, KC Concepcion.
Earlier, Pascual announced his retirement from doing teleseryes, noting that he doesn’t want to get stuck in a set. However, with the changing landscapes of taping and filming, he changed his mind and accepted the Flower of Evil.
Joining Pascual in the upcoming Pinoy adaptation is the newest Kapamilya, Lovi Poe. The cast also includes JC de Vera, Agot Isidro, Denise Laurel, Joem Bascon, Epy Quizon, Rita Avila, Jett Pangan, Pinky Amador, Joross Gamboa, Joko Diaz, and Edu Manzano.
