On Friday, July 15, Darren Espanto and AC Bonifacio did see each other as “relationship material.”
In the press conference of the upcoming iWantTFC series Lyric and Beat, Espanto said, “AC is definitely girlfriend material.”
The series will also feature the very first pairing of the two young stars.
However, he added, “She’s just difficult to handle sometimes.”
Espanto revealed that Bonifacio’s mother, Cherry Lapidario, also sees him as “boyfriend material.”
His co-star then jokingly retaliated, “Pero kasi si mommy, minsan, iba ang sinasabi niya.”
She then took it back what her co-star and also be an ideal partner.
“Pero I think same thing naman.”
Bonifacio also stated that the only problem with Espanto as a boyfriend is, “Hindi po siya marunong mag-commit, hahaha!”
He then responded, “Uy! Hindi mo sure! Bakit? Naging tayo ba? Hindi mo masasabi. Paano mo alam?”
Espanto and Bonifacio have developed a years-long friendship, and their parents were comfortable having them spend time together a lot.
“Like my mom trusts Darren 100%. Minsan, bigla na lang pupunta ito sa bahay na, ‘Uy! I’m downstairs, hurry up.’ Tapos nasa taas na po siya! Tapos sasabihin niya, ‘Uy labas tayo, dali,'” shared Bonifacio.
Her on-screen partner added, “I feel like our parents just know how we are with each other. That is why they allow us to keep going out and just spend time with each other. Kasi alam naman nila ang mangyayari sa’tin, de joke lang, hahaha!”
But did they ever think of becoming more than friends?
Apparently, they did!
There was a time in their life when they had crushes on each other. However, Espanto explained that they never thought of pursuing those feelings.
“But we never did anything about it. Kasi parang hindi siya ‘yung attraction na parang super, alam mo ‘yung, ‘Oh! I wanna be in a relationship with AC’ or ‘I want to be in a relationship with Darren.’ Parang we just enjoy each other’s company. Which is why we’re still best friends up until today.”
But the two also did not dismiss the idea that maybe, someday, they will end up together.
“You will never who you’re gonna fall in love with,” pointed out Espanto.
“I think you can never close the door on anything,” said Bonifacio.
Lyric and Beat will premiere in August on iWantTFC. It also stars Andrea Brillantes, Seth Fedelin, Kyle Echarri, Nyoy Volante, Agot Isidro, Joanna Ampil, Sheena Belarmino, Angela Ken, and Jeremy Glinoga.
