On January 11, Deleter stars Nadine Lustre, Louise delos Reyes, Jeffrey Hidalgo, and director Mikhail Red addressed the negative feedback about their highly successful movie.

At the Thanksgiving dinner of the MMFF2022 film Deleter, delos Reyes discussed how she handled the negative feedback about their film.

She then noted that she takes into account comments from constructive criticisms.

As for Hidalgo, he acknowledged that moviegoers have different tastes in film.

“Ako kasi parang tingin ko, it’s a matter of taste talaga di ba? You can never please everybody, iba-iba talaga tayo ng gusto sa buhay, so kanya-kanyang trip lang ‘yan. And at the same time, sabi ko nga kanina, when I saw the film, nagandahan ako.”

He then admitted that he didn’t expect the warm reception from Pinoy audiences with Deleter.

Which I said din kanina, a good direction na parang nagiging mas open na sa iba’t-ibang kinds of story telling. So ‘yun, ‘yun ang take away ko.

“It’s also a positive sign na mayroon ding mga negative comments, ibig sabihin maraming nanonood.”

As for Lustre, she agreed with her co-stars, citing how proud she felt with their project.

You really can’t please everyone. At the end of the day, ‘yung buong team po ng Deleter, sobrang proud po kami sa ginawa namin. We’re very, very grateful of the support we’re getting.

As for the director, Red said he respects others’ opinions, noting that they may have different expectations for the film.

“Ako naman, as a filmmaker, siyempre part ng job mo ‘yun eh to entertain, you put yourself out there when you create something, ‘yun ‘yung risk nun. So ako, nire-respect ko lahat ng criticism, subjective nga ang art and film. Iba-iba ‘yung taste and lalo na when you make a film na medyo may pagka-hybrid of treatments and style.

“People who come in with a premise or existing idea [in their heads] tapos hindi nagma-match sa expectations nila. It could be– [di ba?] result negatively, kasi they already have a film in their head when they start to watch.”

According to the unofficial tallies, Deleter grossed over P234 Million, clinching the top spot for the MMFF2022.

Deleter won seven awards from MMFF Gabi ng Parangal, such as Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Director, Best Actress for Nadine Lustre, and Best Picture.

Apart from Nadine Lustre, Deleter stars McCoy De Leon, Louise delos Reyes, and Jeffrey Hidalgo.

Directed by Mikhail Red, the psychological-horror film premiered on December 25, 2022, and has been extended in cinemas nationwide.
