Tim Yap has officially signed with Sparkle in a full-circle moment.
The contract signing with the celebrity eventologist, host, and lifestyle journalist took place on Tuesday, March 18, with GMA Network Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes and Sparkle First Vice President Joy Marcelo in attendance.
Tim was warmly welcomed into the talent agency, with Marcelo calling him the “spark” they had been searching for. She praised his influence, believing he could inspire and mentor young artists. Gozon-Valdes looked back on Tim’s journey with GMA, recognizing his accomplishments and expressing her honor in officially bringing him back.
For Tim, the event indeed felt like a meaningful homecoming.
“I’ve been such a fan of GMA since I was a kid. I would watch the shows. And I’m the seventh of seven. So that alone, seven has been a lucky and magical number for me,” Tim reminisced. “And now that it’s the GMA 75th year, I’m so honored and humbled to be back in this building to build new memories with you guys.”
A familiar face on GMA, Tim hosted The Tim Yap Show from 2013 to 2015, co-hosted Miss Universe Philippines 2024, and even tried his hand at acting in the Philippine adaptation of Start-Up in 2022. Now, he’s making his return to television with even bigger plans.
“For my personal goals for my career, I want to continue hosting more and do more television. I told Joy [Marcelo] that this year is like my big TV comeback,” Tim said.
He shared his excitement about taking on more TV projects with Sparkle this year, mentioning how every time they come together, creative ideas flow, birthing new collaborations and fresh concepts.
“I’m excited to put these concepts into provision,” he declared. “I’m excited to make it happen.”
Gozon-Valdes shared his enthusiasm, stating, “I think hindi magiging complete yung character of Tim in the entertainment industry without him also appearing in entertainment shows not just as a host, but also in acting. So that’s one of the projects that you can look out for this year. We are going to have Tim in one of our drama shows.”
