She may be a constant subject of bashing on social media, but recent development showed Sen. Nancy Binay on the winning side of social media.
Last Monday, September 20, Sen. Nancy Binay won the internet after slamming Mocha Uson on her proliferation of fake news.
During the Senate budget hearing of the PCOO, Sen. Binay questioned Sec. Martin Andanar’s request for additional budget to fight fake news. According to the Senator, how can they fight fake news when in fact most of the fake news being spread on social media comes from an Asec of the PCCO.
“Ang hirap i-separate ng Mocha private citizen and Mocha the Asec, lalong lalo na… I mean how can you, Secretary Andanar, fight fake news kung may instances na nanggagaling mismo sa isang Asec yung fake news? she said.
[It is hard to separate a private citizen Mocha to an Asec. Mocha, especially…I mean how can you, Secretary Andanar, fight fake news if there were instances that the fake news are coming from an Asec herself?]
Meanwhile, Mocha Uson didn’t let that tirade go un-noticed and return it back to the sender.
On her Facebook page, Mocha Uson posted a question that threw some shade to Sen. Binay. Uson said she may not be perfect as she committed some mistakes but she never steal from the country’s coffers, throwing the question to Sen. Binay if she did.
“Kung nagkamali man po ako sa post ko dahil sa hindi pagsunod sa “standard” ng pagiging journalist pasensiya na pero at least kahit kelan hindi ako nagnakaw sa bayan ko. Kayo po mam?? Nagtatanong lang po,” she wrote.
[If I made mistakes through my post for not following journalistic standards, at least I didn’t steal tax payer’s money. How about you maam? Just asking question.]
But the internet sided with Sen. Binay. Netizens find Binay more credible now than Uson. Because of that netizens were all praise for Binay’s tenacity to slap Mocha Uson for spreading fake news.
