The Verdict : Chief Justice Renato Corona Impeachment Trial case

Today, May 29, five months after the real-life court drama between the prosecution and defense counsels, the Senator judges, Supreme Court CJ Renato Corona and his family, the Philippine Senate is expected to release its much-awaited verdict on Chief Justice Renato Corona Impeachment Trial case.

Is he guilty or not guilty?
Will he be convicted or acquitted?

Sixteen votes are required to unseat Corona and eight votes to acquit. There are 23 senators in attendance for the Impeachment trial.

Here are the votes from the Senator-Judges:

23. Juan Ponce Enrile voted guilty on Article 2

22. Villar voted guilty on Article 2

21. Trillanes voted guilty on Article 2

20. Tito Sotto voted guilty on Article 2

19. Bong Revilla Jr. voted guilty on Article 2

18. Ralph Recto voted guilty on Article 2

17. Coco Pimentel voted guilty on Article 2

16. Pangilinan voted guilty on Article 2

15. OsmeƱa votes guilty on Article 2

14. Marcos voted not guilty on Article 2

13. Legarda voted guilty on Article 2

12. Lapid voted guilty on Article 2

11. Lacson voted guilty on Article 2

10. Honasan voted guilty on Article 2

9. Guingona voted guilty on Article 2

8. Estrada voted guilty on Article 2

7. Escudero voted guilty on Article 2

6. Drilon voted guilty on Article 2

5. Santiago voted not guilty on Article 2

4. Cayetano P. voted guilty on Article 2

3. Cayetano A. voted guilty on Article 2

2. Arroyo voted not guilty on Article 2

1. Angara voted guilty on Article 2

20 – convict
3 – acquit

The Chief Justice Renato Corona becomes the first high-ranking official in Philippine history to be removed from office via the method prescribed by the Constitution which is the impeachment trial.
