Outside the boxing ring and the bowling alley, there is one arena where Filipinos have never failed to impress — the stage. Why is music inseparably linked to the Filipino psyche? What make them capture the international music scene?
The search for answers brings “Cheche Lazaro Presents” to amateur singing competitions, where aspiring vocalists make a living for their families as they wait to be discovered.
The one-hour documentary also puts the spotlight on accomplished singers and musicians such as Ryan Cayabyab, Sarah Geronimo, Angeline Quinto, Rachelle Gerodias, and the Isidro siblings, who share their bumpy but rewarding journey in the music industry. OPM (Organisasyon Ng Pilipinong Mang-Aawit) chairman of the board Mitch Valdez and The New Minstrels lead vocalist Louie Reyes also join the discussion and impart a different perspective as veteran music icons.
Don’t miss “Cheche Lazaro Presents: Pinoy Hits” this Sunday (May 18), after “Gandang Gabi Vice” on ABS-CBN’s Sunday’s Best.
