Many Pinoys easily fell prey and quickly spread the false information from the satire news site.
A satirical piece titled “Robredo: If Elected Vice President Of Duterte, I Will Immediately Resign My Post,” an article by hoax news site Adobo Chronicles has fooled numerous gullible Filipino netizens. The hoax news report used the angle of the interview of the now leading Vice Presidentiable Leni Robredo on her “Bandila” guesting on May 2 where she actually answered that she can work with any President regardless if it’s Duterte, Binay, Poe, or Santiago — though she prefers working with his Presidential running mate, Mar Roxas.
The hoax site quoted Leni, “Duterte and I are the exact opposites and I don’t see working with him even remotely possible” and assumed that “if Duterte became the president and she is elected vice president, she would resign from her post on the first day in office.”
Unfortunately, there are over 10,000 and still counting gullible Filipinos sharing this article on their timelines. It seems the site benefited from a general tendency among social media users to share without reading, let alone verifying.
