Viewers were instantly captivated by ABS-CBN’s newest romantic drama and psychological thriller “The Better Half” as its pilot episode led the afternoon ratings games last Monday (Feb 13).
The show recorded a national TV rating of 16.8%, while its rival show “Hahamakin ang Lahat” only got 13.7%, according to data from Kantar Media. It also generated online buzz and trended on Twitter as netizens posted about the cast’s performances and love scenes.
Twitter user @pinoytapsilog shared his praises for the series, “#TheBetterHalfBegins with a big bang! It feels like an intense, fast-paced, full romantic thriller movie with tight editing & stellar acting,” he said in a tweet.
“It was so beautiful! Another quality series from ABS-CBN,” @ryanemmanuelS shared on Twitter.
Even iWant TV users were captured by the series’ pilot episode. “It is like a movie! Congrats to the whole cast,” iWant TV user Wheng commented.
“Great editing! The cinematography was superb,” said Marielle in the comments section.
In its pilot episode, viewers were introduced to Camille (Shaina Magdayao), the woman Rafael (JC De Vera) saved from committing suicide as she searched for her lost husband Marco (Carlo Aquino). However, Marco, who suffer from an amnesia after a plane crash, is already living on an island with Bianca (Denise Laurel), who pretends to be his wife.
Will Camille find her way to Marco? What role will Rafael play in her life? How can Bianca keep her dark secret from everyone?
The series is directed by Jeffrey Jeturian and produced by the team behind hit shows “Be Careful With My Heart,” “Dream Dad,” and “Ningning.”
