- Court of Appeals decided to revive ABS-CBN’s Breach of Contract complaint against Willie Revillame
- Court of Appeals reversed QC RTC decision dismissing ABS-CBN’s case vs former talent Willie Revillame over breach of contract
After having dismissed by a Quezon City RTC, Court of Appeals on May 30, 2017 has revived ABS-CBN’s breach of contract case against former talent Willie Revillame.

In a 23-page result released by the special 7th division of the Court of Appeals, it finds RTC Quezon City Branch 76 wrong in dismissing the case due to forum shopping.
“The trial court is perfectly aware that in dismissing the counterclaims before it on the basis of forum shopping, it would, in effect, be antecedently resolving the very question raised before the Supreme Court,” said CA.
The CA also joins with tghe network’s argument that the case should not have been terminated just because the original contract between the TV network and Revillame expired on Sept. 10, 2011.
It noted that ABS-CBN lodged the complaint against the former TV host for violating the contents of their agreement within its period of effectivity. Thus it cannot be interpreted as a bar which would foreclose appellant ABS-CBN from seeking judicial recourse for violations allegedly committed by Revillame during the life of the contract.

The case stemmed from Revillame’s 11 million damage suit in 2010 against the media company to which ABS-CBN answered by a counter suit claiming Willie Revillame’s alleged breach of contract.
