- In a recent ABS-CBN Report posted on Twitter , Sen. Grace Poe said that the President’s cursing may affect the minds of Filipino children
- Shortly after, Teodoro “Ted” Locsin replied firmly, saying that he believes the president is not merely a celebrity. Hence, it is highly unlikely that children would imitate him.
The president’s way of speaking has always sparked debate among his supporters and doubters. Some people argue that as the president, he has the obligation to speak eloquently and set a good example.

On the other hand, there are those who believe that for as long as he performs his duties and lives up to his promises, his way of speaking shouldn’t be a problem. Actions speak louder than words, as the old saying goes.
Former politician, diplomat and social media personality Ted Locsin is one of those who think this way.
Sen. Grace Poe was concern about the president’s way of speaking – pointing out that this might influence children negatively.
To which, Ted replied: “Grace, he is not Coco Martin so I don’t think they will imitate him. Plus if a kid does, slap it. Parental right.”.

He also cited Noli de Castro’s warning on politicians. “My dad and Noli de Castro warned me that polite politicians are usually gangsters full of “po” and “ho” before shooting you.”

He added, “Also Mom showed, add: pulling ears 5′ up of a 4′ child and slapping w slippers. In retrospect no blame, I did set fire to the bedroom.”

Ted also added that should parents (or adults) catch children using foul language, they should resort to corporal punishment as it is a “parental right”.
