Maris also gave a beauty-queen-worthy acceptance speech for RAWR Awards 2017.
Maris Racal won the “Beshie ng Taon” in the recently concluded RAWR Awards 2017 held in Chaos at City of Dreams Manila last November 18. She defeated Angelika Dela Cruz, Christian Bables, Lui Manansala, Matet De Leon, Paolo Contis, Pepe Herrera, Ruby Ruiz and Sheena Halili in the said category.
Her wonderful portrayal as Maxine, the best friend of the lead role, Kath (Julia Barretto) in the movie “Vince, Kath and James” makes her worthy of the title.
In her acceptance speech, she stated she was very happy that the public chose her for the ‘Beshie ng Taon’ Rawr Award. This is her first time accepting an award in front of a huge crowd. Usually when she wins an award, her handler will be the one to accept it and give it to her.
“Na-realize ko na whether an award came from an online poll, online votation or from a very prestigious event, may one thing in common lang sila: it is an award. And choice ka ng tao para manalo. So, kaya, I am very blessed and lucky na napili niyo ako tonight as ‘Beshie ng Taon.'”
She also shared that this had inspired her to work harder.
“Honestly po, mas naging inspired ako, mas naging passionate sa craft, mas naging hungry for success, for more moments like this. Kasi ang sarap sarap pala talaga sa feeling na makatanggap ng award, ma-recognize sa performance mo.”
Then, she gave a beauty-queen-worthy quote which everyone applauded to.
“Mas gagalingan ko pa. Whether it’s a small role or a big role, because I believe that small opportunities are also opportunities to be big. Thank you so much!”
