Trump’s remark on Trillanes is fake news.
Latest fake news about Senator Trillanes has been traced to former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s undersecretary.
On his Facebook post, writer Miguel Syjuco said netizens have traced the latest fake news on Sen. Trillanes from former PGMA’s Press Undersecretary Bobby Capco.
“Netizens have traced the apparent source of the fake news on Trillanes — to GMA/Duterte stalwart Bobby Capco” he wrote.
Sen. Trillanes has been the target of the latest fake news saying US President Donald Trump tagged him as “little narco” which means a narco politician.
The news was then picked up by Philstar columnist Mary Ann Reyes in her column titled “A Major Embarassment” and Al Pedroche of Pilipino Star Ngayon titled “‘Little Narco’ met with Sen. Marco – Trump”.
These were the articles also used by DDS blogger Thinking Pinoy as his source on his Facebook post
Thinking Pinoy argued that the news was legit because he sources it from a credible newspaper company.
However, Philstar and Pilipino Star Ngayon have already taken down the articles due to its questionable sources.
In searching for the source of the report, netizens pointed to Bobby Capco’s Facebook post on October 26. In his post, Capco claimed he has A1 information about Trump’s remark against Trillanes.
Meanwhile, without clear source and verifiable information, Syjuco slammed Capco for spreading fake news which according to him “hurts us all”.
“Seriously, fake news hurts us all. We all fall for it from time to time. But even if you’re pro-Duterte, this stuff still needs to be fixed. It only makes this administration look desperate and totally undermines its credibility.”
