World Screen, an international publication, gave recognition to GMA Network’s science fiction series, The Cure.
The publication also included The Cure in the Social Wit List of World Screen as one of the most-talked shows on Facebook and Twitter in April 2018.
In the World Screen article they wrote:
“The Cure debuted on GMA Network in the Philippines and generated some 46,000 tweets. The thriller telenovela follows Greg, who gets his hands on an experimental drug to help his mother, but his life takes a turn when the drug becomes the root of an infection that threatens to spread all over the city. The #WalkingDeadFeelings were #Exciting for viewers, who were also tweeting that it was #NotYourAverageLoveStory.”
The Cure reveals the story of the Salvador family: Greg, Charity and Hope. Greg grew desperate to find a treatment after his mother became diagnosed with late-stage cancer. Evangeline Lazaro invented an experimental drug which Greg sneaks out to give to his mother. However, the drug became the root of an infection which spread all over the city.
The Cure also became the network’s next ammunition against ABS-CBN Corporation’s FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
Despite making it into the World Screen’s ‘Social Wit List’, The Cure is still on the verge of getting the ax earlier than expected. PEP Troika last week talked about the possibility of shortening GMA Network’s newest primetime series The Cure. Jerry Olea asked, “Pero… ano itong naulinigan namin? Totoo bang tatapusin agad-agad itong The Cure?”
For which Noel Ferrer confirm, “Narinig ko rin ang bulong na ‘yan.”
He added about the GMA Network’s six-week policy. If a series doesn’t rate well in its first six weeks, the network will give another week. If the series still has yet to rate high, the network would dispatch the said series.
“Nasabi na before pa ang six-week policy sa GMA. Kung hindi nagri rate first week mo, bibigyan ka pa ng another week. Kapag waley pa rin, swak ka na sa six-week policy na candidate na para tigbakin ka na.”
Super Ma’am and Sherlock Jr. became ammunition in the past against the said crime-action series. Although Super Ma’am had a lengthy run, it still ended quicker than the Kapamilya crime series.
