TV and radio stations always claim they are the number one. However, it just differs which part of the Philippines they remain the first. In Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon, ABS-CBN’s DZMM and GMA’s DZBB compete for the number one spot.
During Dobol B sa News TV‘s first-anniversary press conference, Mike Enriquez claimed that DZBB is the number one radio station in Metro Manila. He backed his claims with facts and data to prove otherwise. He also made clear that he took said data from AGB Nielsen and Kantar Media.
“Ang research ha magastos ha, yung magbayad ka ng lehitimong research. Dalawa ‘yan, e, may Nielsen, may Kantar. Ewan ko kung anong ginagamit nila, kami ang ginagamit namin Nielsen. Globally, ‘pag sinabi mong Nielsen, parang ‘pag sinabi mong… pardon, for example, Reader’s Digest, o, di ba? And you can…at anytime puwede naming ipakita kaya lang hindi puwede.”
According to said data in the press conference, DZBB’s weekday morning time block from 6 AM to 11 AM became the number in Mega Manila during 2017’s fourth quarter. The data released from Nielsen Radio Audience Measurement Survey, DZBB has 37.40% average audience while DZMM has 30.20%. In the first quarter of 2018, DZBB earned 35.40% while DZMM had 30.30%.
Mike continued that the proof for credibility will always be advertisers who pay for their endorsements to air.
“E, isa pang proof diyan sa credibility ay yung advertisers, each and every peso na nilalagay nila sa mga stations, sa programs, ay sukat na sukat. Meron silang scientific method na ginagamit. Para masigurado na yung kanilang advertising money ay magagastos sa tama. Alam nila ‘yan.”
Although Mike didn’t confirm nor deny the rumors on the radio station’s program becoming a 24/7 show.
“Wala kaming sinasabi ha. Di ba, totoo na maraming oras sa relo at maraming araw sa isang linggo, yun ang sinasabi ko.”
