- Just like the previous years, the MMFF 2018 committee decided not to divulge the official ranking and the official gross of the eight MMFF 2018 entries
- MMFF spokesperson Noel Ferrer revealed the top 3 most-watched MMFF 2018 movie entries in an interview with DZMM on Wednesday
Star Cinema’s “Fantastica” starring Dingdong Dantes, Richard Gutierrez and Vice Ganda has been leading the Metro Manila Film Festival 2018 box office since it opened in cinemas on Christmas Day.
In an interview with DZMM on Wednesday, MMFF spokesperson Noel Ferrer said, “Ang sinabi sa akin, ganito na lang ang mangyayari kasi kawawa naman ‘yung nagla-lag behind. I can safely say that we are really so happy and we are going to the target na P1 billion. Kaya lang, gusto sana natin equal distribution hanggang kaya ng lahat ng mga pelikula.
“Pero as expected, ‘yung mga pelikula ni Vice Ganda at saka ni Coco Martin at Vic Sotto ang nangunguna sa takilya.”
“The large part of the pie was really that of Vice Ganda and that of Coco Martin and Vic Sotto,” he continued.
“Jack Em Popoy” starring Coco Martin, Maine Mendoza, and Vic Sotto came second.
When asked if it’s “in that order”, the spokesperson said “yes.”
Next to “Fantastica” and “Jack Em Popoy” is Viva Films’ “Aurora” topbilled by Anne Curtis.
Though he can’t really give any more details on the rankings, Ferrer added, “‘Yung pangatlo, medyo malayo, ‘yung kay Anne Curtis.”
The five other competing movies at the MMFF 2018 are “Otlum,” “Rainbow’s Sunset,” “Mary, Marry Me,” “The Girl In The Orange Dress,” and “One Great Love.”
These eight official entries to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF 2018) that premiered on Christmas Day will run in the cinemas until January 7, 2019. The MMFF Awards Night will be held at The Theatre at Solaire on December 27.
