GMA Network’s new primetime series ‘Kara Mia’ was pitted against Kapamilya Network’s long-running action television series, ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.’
In an interview with PEP.ph, Mika Dela Cruz, who stars as one of the twins, Mia Lacson, gave a statement regarding their series having to compete against a three-year running series.
Mika is well aware that netizens root for high expectations on their first airing on February 18, as their teaser went viral online.

She confidently replied, “Hindi naman po kami kinakabahan. Alam naman namin na kung ano man yung…well, kaya nga nila naha-hype dahil nakita nila. Kumbaga, hindi sila mabibigo. Hindi sila mami-mislead. Sinasabi ko po ‘yan. Kung ano ang nakita nila na feeling nila makukuha nila, kapag pinanood nila, yun at yun, sobra-sobra pa ang makukuha nila.”
She was then asked if their show ‘Kara Mia’ will finally be the one to beat ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ in the audience views.
She answered, “Ayoko pong sabihin na tatalo dahil hindi naman po yun ang goal natin. Hindi naman po ang tumalo ng ibang proyekto, hindi naman po. Hindi naman po ganun yun. Feeling ko, ito ang teleserye na tatatak, magkakaroon ng kurot sa puso sa mga manonood. Maiiyak sila, matatawa sila, mamamangha sila kasi…speechless ako, hindi ko alam ang sasabihin ko.”

She also emphasized that they do have an edge and a fight against its rival series. Stating, “May laban!”
And the said ‘pressure’ that they are feeling is on their performances as to how well will they be able to rightly portray their roles and not on their competition against its rival show.
“Actually, yung pressure hindi sa ibang tao. Kundi paano mo ita-tap yung performance mo sa huling show mo. Paano mo iibahin at gagawing kakaiba. Doon ang pressure, e, hindi sa kung paano namin matatalo ang kalaban.”
