On February 26 during ‘TV Patrol,’ ABS-CBN revealed who’s joining the panel of judges in the search for ‘Idol Philippines.’
After making history in their three-day concert at the Araneta Coliseum, real-life friends – Asia’s Songbird Regine Velazquez and the Unkabogable star Vice Ganda – are judging in the Idol show. James Reid, who’s filming an upcoming movie and who will star in a new TV series, is also judging in the show. The multi nominated and award-winning singer-songwriter, Moira dela Torre, who’s been remarkable because of the genre of her songs is also part of the panel of judges.

With the official hashtag #IdolPHJudgesReveal, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid will be joined by the new judges Vice Ganda, Moira dela Torre and James Reid. Out of the four judges, only Vice Ganda was handpicked by the owner of the global format, Fremantle. The Unkabogable star has prior experience as a judge on international franchises such as ‘Pinoy Boyband Supertar,’ and was in two seasons of ‘Pilipinas Got Talent,’ both owned by Fremantle.
The reveal received mixed reactions on Social Media. Take a look at some of the reactions we’ve got from Twitter:
Dont underestimate Moira. She has waited a long time for her TIME in the spotlight. She does alot behind the camera and may market naman sya. If may say sila sa mga arrangements ng contestants I believe she will deliver. #IdolPHJudgesReveal

No doubt for Vice and Regine. But James and Moira? How come? #IdolPHJudgesReveal

Tawag Ng Tanghalan judges are more credible than the Idol Philippines judges. You're destroying a good show just for the sake of viewers and ratings. Fanbase na talaga ang labanan ngayon. Oh well. Entertainment industry is slowly dying. Just my opinion. #IdolPHJudgesReveal

For everyone’s info, Ellen DeGeneres (Comedian and clearly not a singer) was a judge for American Idol. Yes, the panel should include professional singers (thus the Asia’s Songbird) but it aso requires someone to shake up the panel. #IdolPhilippines #IdolPHJudgesReveal

Do not underestimate Moira, people. I believe she would do really well. She's not a singer songwriter, and a Hit Maker indeed for nothing. #IdolPHJudgesReveal

Honestly, I think James Reid is a good choice as an Idol Philippines judge… I would love to see his perspective of new idol in the Philippines given the way he has a say on his own music. He doesnt care about mainstream. #IdolPHJudgesReveal

ABC Development Corporation (TV5) first got the franchise in 2006 with Mau Marcelo as its Grand Winner followed by GMA Network in 20018 which titled it ‘Pinoy Idol’ with Grand Winner Gretchen Espina. This year, Fremantle completed a deal with ABS-CBN for the new ‘Search for the Idol Philippines’.
The show was originally created by British entertainment executive Simon Fuller.
