Veteran TV host Boy Abunda has revealed that there has been no communication between him and actress Bea Alonzo in the midst of recent controversies.
Alonzo and Dominic Roque made headlines with a joint statement announcing their split and the cancellation of their engagement. The statement alluded to confirmations of their breakup without their consent and the spread of unfounded rumors.
During a media conference for his upcoming GMA Network limited docu-series ‘My Mother, My Story,’ Abunda responded to questions about his relationship with Alonzo.
“Hindi pa kami nagkakausap. I’ll be very honest, hindi pa kami nag-uusap. And this is not the right time to talk about it. Ayoko namang makisawsaw sa kuwentong ito (pagdedemanda ni Bea kina Nanay Cristy Fermin at Ogie Diaz). Pero, I didn’t do wrong to anyone. But that’s for another time,” Abunda stated candidly.
“I’m hoping na isang araw kaming lahat mabigyan ng pagkakataon na makapagpaliwanag sa isa’t isa.”
When asked about his feelings regarding Alonzo’s implications, Abunda expressed, “Hanggang ngayon nga may mga reaction, bakit si Boy Abunda, hindi kasama (sa mga kinasuhan ni Bea)? Hindi ko alam kung nasaktan ako, but I mind them.”
He further explained, “And I’d like to be able to explain that position isang araw. Ngayon lang is the wrong time. There’s a right time to speak, and the right time to keep quiet. Tinatanong niyo lang ako kaya ako sumasagot. May panahon. But yes, I mind them. Ayoko kasing pahabain ang kuwento, kasi, I’m sure Bea has a side to her story, I’m sure she has a reason to why she said that ‘There were other who confirmed without our consent’.”
“I’m sure may pinanggagalingan siya. Meron din akong pinanggagalingan why I did. This is how far I’ll go, I did confirm, it was not a crime. But my intention was just not confirming, it was an appeal for kindness and for sobriety para sa kanya at para kay Dom. I was not aware that there was going to be a joint statement. I was not doing it for the ratings.”

“A short statement an appeal for sana ipagdasal natin na maayos, sana ibigay ng Diyos what’s best for them. At quota na ako doon, kung ratings lang ang hanap ko,” he added.
Abunda clarified that his intention was merely to appeal for kindness and sobriety for Alonzo and Roque. He emphasized that he was not aware of the joint statement and wasn’t seeking ratings with his confirmation of their breakup.
Meanwhile, Abunda’s ‘My Mother, My Story’ series is set to premiere on Sunday, May 12, featuring mother-and-son Vilma Santos and Luis Manzano, alongside another child of Vilma, Ryan Christian.
