On April 13, Kapuso actor Tom Rodriguez, during a show called ‘Sarap, Di Ba?,’ said that it is very important to get the heart of the woman you desire but you always need to consider winning her family’s heart too.
The actor also stated that Filipinos are naturally family-oriented. All will be centered on the couple but the theme will always be family oriented.
“Tayong mga Pinoy ay very family oriented. Sa isang relasyon, kayo naman talaga ‘yung sentro doon, pero nandoon pa rin ‘yung pagiging family oriented ng bawat isa ninyo.”
In addition to that, he also stated that a couple’s compatibility with each other is not enough, both the couple should also be in right terms with the other’s family.
Furthermore, the actor said that things may go south if half of the couple does not have a good relationship with their partner’s family.
“Kahit magkasundo kayo, kahit compatible kayo at lahat lahat, posibleng hindi pa rin mag-work out kung hindi okay ‘yung family ninyo. Kasi siyempre makakasama at makakasama mo, so kailangan talaga solid rin kayo lahat.”
At 32, Tom Rodriguez already has an undisclosed deadline on when to marry his girlfriend, Carla Abellana. He has been going out with her for four years now. In October, Carla said she and Tom have been talking about marriage.

When asked about marriage in October of last year, Carla answered, “Ready na po ako, I am 32. Pero only God knows kung kalian kami ikakasal. Napag-uusapan naman po, pero in terms of date o yung time, wala pa.”
Meanwhile, Tom Rodriguez currently portrays the character of Filipino-Chinese Michael Chan in ‘Dragon Lady’ which he co-stars with Janine Gutierrez.
