Erik Santos is a multi-awarded recording and concert artist of ABS-CBN and is tagged as the ‘King of OPM Theme Songs’. He is currently a performer on ‘ASAP,’ a musical-variety show.
He was picked to originally sing the theme song of the movie ‘Man and Wife’ which will star Gabby Concepcion and Jodi Sta. Maria and directed by Laurice Guillen.
It is a Mother’s Day offering from Cineko Films and will be premiered on Wednesday (May 8).
Last week, the musical director/scorer of the movie ‘Man and Wife’, Von de Guzman, posted a rant on his social media account dragging Erik Santos’ name and revealing his disappointment towards the artist.
“And that is why the composer has to be there when his song is recorded. First note pa lang, mali na. Nag-imbento ng melody. Mali pa ang interpretation. It’s either hindi narinig ng record producer iyun or wala siyang pakialam. Eh rinaket nyo lang, e. Hindi matatapatan ng sino man ang malasakit ng kompositor para sa musika niya.”

On the other hand, it was found out that the producers tried to rush the recording of the theme song for the movie’s online trailers and director Laurice Guillen wanted to re-record the song for it to sound better in the film.
Unfortunately, Santos was in the United States and he only stayed for a while for the ‘ASAP’ show. He was not able to record the song again because of his busy schedule.
The Movie and Television Review and Classification (MTRCB) still have to review the final copy of the film.
Brought by the situation, they needed to look for another singer and they have chosen David Ezra, the son of Asia’s Diva Dulce.
David Ezra’s rendition of the song gained the approval of the film production. Dulce,being proud of his son, posted her appreciation for David through social media.

Erik Santos, together with the ‘Pop Rock Superstar’ Yeng Constantino, will be having a concert entitled “Extraordinary” on May 22 to be held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila. It will be directed by John Prats.
