A writer who is facing a major roadblock in her career and life looks to her past – including her first love and heartbreak – to move forward in her present in the new iWant original series “Past, Present, Perfect?,” which is now streaming for free on iWant.

The digital series, which stars Loisa Andalio and Shaina Magdayao as the young and old Shantal, takes viewers back to their high school days, post-college ambitions, and puppy love conquests.

A student with a gift for words, Shantal uses her talent to woo her crush, her high school professor Daniel (Vin Abrenica), by secretly writing him poems and declarations of love. As they become close because of their love for literature, Daniel, recognizing her potential, urges her to pursue her dream of becoming an award-winning writer.

Shantal’s world is turned upside down when she confesses her feelings for Daniel and gets rejected at their graduation ball.

In the present, Shantal navigates adulthood and struggles to pay for her bills by translating text books and subtitling porn – a far cry from her dream to write poetry and novels.

Things go awry for Shantal when she experiences writer’s block, unable to come up with a solid follow-up to her first successful romance pocket book.

Will Shantal be able to find renewed faith in herself and write the stories she wants to tell? What lessons from her past will help her shape the future chapters of her life?

Co–produced by Epic Media, “Past, Present, Perfect?” is directed by Dwein Baltazar, who wrote the blockbuster movie “Exes Baggage” and recently won Best Director and Best Screenplay for her movie “Gusto Kita With All My Hypothalamus” – also named Best Picture – at the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards 2019.

The romance-drama series also stars Awra Briguela, Amy Nobleza, Angelie Sanoy, Elijah Canlas, VJ Mendoza, Alorah Sasam, Eda Nolan, Anthony Falcon, Iana Bernardez, Peewee O’hara, Romnick Sarmenta, and Allan Paule.
The series’ debut on iWant last week trended on Twitter, and has since earned praises and been recommended by netizens because of its nostalgia-inducing and relatable story and the performances of its cast.

Twitter user @jkv1995 posted, “Past, Present, Perfect? from iWant actually is freaking good. You should try and watch the series ‘cuz you’re totally missing out!!! P.S. If we can support foreign series, perhaps this one also.” Meanwhile, @Lejdhir_Saega posted, “They say great directing is mostly great casting. I commend ‘Past Present Perfect’ for that. Great character development and great performances from the ensemble. And this is @iamAndalioLoisa’s best performance so far. Not saying this as her fan but as a fan of movies in general.”

@iambatshitcrazy “Natuwa ako sa Past, Present, Perfect?. Galing ni Loisa, infer. And her squad din. Shaina, who I’ve never been a fan of, is surprisingly affecting. Maybe it’s the story but, I felt her. Watch it. Maganda ‘yung story, happy, sad. Plus it has a vibrant cast.”

“Why did I watch Past, Present, Perfect? I thought it would be a typical love story but it isn’t. It hit home. I feel the struggle of the older Shantal. So many questions, doubts, and fears. If my high school version saw me, would she be proud of me?” shared @GSharrrr.

Instagram movie critic @magandabamovie, meanwhile, posted,” Galing nung pagkakagawa ng series na ‘to, pampelikula na ang quality… Mahusay din yung cinematography, cinematic quality, hindi siya yung typical TV series that the camera work is normally lazy, or lacking, with Past Present Perfect you’ll appreciate those gorgeous shots… Nakakabilib din ‘yung pagkakatahi ng story, makakarelate dito yung mga tao na dreamers, at mga naka experience na ng unrequited love.”

The first four episodes of “Past, Present, Perfect?” are already streaming for free on iWant, while the next episodes will drop on Wednesday (June 5). Download the iWant app on iOS or Android or register via iwant.ph.
