- Alden Richards is starring in a movie under Star Cinema
- Alden revealed that he auditioned for some ABS-CBN reality shows when he was still starting in showbiz
- Nine years after his rejection from Pinoy Big Brother, Alden is now co-starring with Kathryn Bernardo in Hello, Love, Goodbye
Alden Richards finally has got the chance to star in a Star Cinema film, a very rare opportunity given to big GMA Network artists like Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, and Dennis Trillo. His movie with Kathryn Bernardo titled Hello, Love, Goodbye will be shown in cinemas nationwide beginning July 31. Both Alden and Kathryn are now crossing networks to promote this unexpected movie pairing of two of the hottest properties of rival networks.
During the July 9 grand press conference for Hello, Love, Goodbye, Alden revealed it wasn’t his first time to set foot in ABS-CBN. Just like any other aspiring actors in the industry, Alden received numerous rejections including his audition with the Kapamilya network at age 14 (2006).
“Actually, hindi po ito yung una kong pagtapak sa ABS. I was 14, nag-audition din po ako sa mga reality shows ng ABS-CBN.”
Same with his former love team partner Maine Mendoza’s fate, Alden auditioned to become one of the housemates of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) but got rejected.
We previously reported that Alden auditioned for PBB Teen Clash of 2010 while Maine Mendoza tried to become a housemate for PBB 737. Who would imagine that the two PBB rejects are now two of the most popular Kapuso celebrities and they’re now doing a movie with ABS-CBN movie outfits, Alden for Star Cinema and Maine for Black Sheep.
In 2011, Alden was chosen to play the lead role opposite Louise delos Reyes in Alakdana. Now, he’s doing a movie with Star Cinema with Kathryn, a very surprising combination.
“Ngayon na I’m doing a project with Star Cinema, being here in ABS, medyo overwhelmed, parang naninibago. Siyempre, parang hindi ko ine-expect na isang GMA actor, makakatapak sa ABS-CBN. I’m really thankful for the opportunity given to me, especially to GMA for letting me do this film. Masaya po.”
The Kapuso actor also revealed that he’s a fan of their director in the movie. Cathy Garcia-Molina directed Alden’s favorite movie One More Chance starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo. “Even before pa po ako mag-artista, fan na po ako ng Cathy Garcia films, especially One More Chance, and hindi lang yun yung napanuod kong pelikula ni Direk, marami pa. It’s a dream come true for me. Pinangarap ko po talaga na maka-arte sa harap ng camera ni Direk Cathy kasi fan po ako ng pelikula niya.”

Meanwhile, Kathryn, his partner in this movie is open for a crossover with GMA Network if her management will allow her.
Shot mostly in Hong Kong, Hello, Love, Goodbye also features Maymay Entrata, Joross Gamboa, Jeffrey Tam, Lovely Abella, Kakai Bautista, and Jameson Blake, among others.
