GMA Network unveiled a new afternoon series, Prima Donnas starring Kapuso rising teen stars, Jillian Ward as Donna Marie, Althea Ablan as Donna Belle, and Sofia Pablo as Donna Lyn with Katrina Halili as Lilian Madreal, Wendell Ramos as Jaime Claveria; veteran and award-winning actress Chanda Romero as Lady Primarosa Claveria, and Best Supporting Actress, Aiko Melendez as Kendra Fajardo.
The new show was pitted against the most-watched afternoon series Kadenang Ginto on ABS-CBN Network. How did the Prima Donnas fare against Kadenang Ginto?
Prima Donnas highlighted in their pilot week the death of the biological mother’s heiress, Glaiza De Castro, and the birth of the Prima Donnas by Katrina Halili their surrogate mother. The three girls are separated from their family because of this.
On Kadenang Ginto, the thrilling confrontation scene between Francine Diaz as Cassie Mondragon and Andrea Brilliantes as Marga Mondragon at the Maxwell Ball became the highlight. The excitement was heightened when a fire breaks out at the ball.
In the data from Nationwide Urban Television Audience Measurement (aka Nationwide Urban TV Audience Measurement), the ratings provider of GMA, Prima Donnas failed to overtake timeslot leader Kadenang Ginto.
On Monday. August 19, in the pilot episode Prima Donnas garnered a rating of 4.9 against Kadenang Ginto‘s 10%, with a difference of 5.1%
On Tuesday, August 20, Prima Donnas got 5.2 in ratings but lost to Kadenang Ginto with 10.1 %, with a smaller gap of 4.9
On Wednesday, Prima Donnas rose to 5.9% but still trailed behind Kadenang Ginto’s 10.4 in rating,
On Thrusday, August 22, Prima Donnas garnered 5.3 in ratings with a gap of 4.7 wherein Kadenang Ginto got 10% in ratings.
The Show may be a new bred and taste of the viewers but we may not know this show, may it be the afternoon series that will be the competition of Kadenang Ginto?
