According to her, she and Luis will be celebrating with their family the birthday of Edu Manzano.

“Hindi ako pupunta, sayang. Birthday kasi ni Tito Edu and we’ve planned something else. Kaya ayon, hindi kami makakadalo ni Luis.” Jessy explained.

Traditionally, Jessy and Luis are one of the most awaited couples on the red carpet. The two have graced the Star Magic and ABS-CBN Ball regularly since 2016.

Despite their absence from this year’s ABS-CBN Ball, Jessy thanked ABS-CBN for not forgetting to invite them every year. But this year, she said that they really need to take a break from the event for a more important event in their family.

“We’re very thankful na every year naman, as always, lagi kaming invited,” she added. “For now, we’ll rest it out muna and celebrate ‘yung birthday ni Tito Edu,” she said.

This year’s ABS-CBN Ball will pay homage to the late former ABS-CBN Foundation Chairman Gina Lopez. Also in celebration of the network’s 65 years, the 2019 ABS-CBN Ball will have a Filipiniana theme.

Proceeds of the ball will be given to Bantay Bata to bring hope to underprivileged children throught their Bantay Edukasyon program. The program will cover the children’s educational needs from complete tuition assistance to meal and transportation allowances.

Meanwhile, Jessy is also busy promoting her latest movie ‘Mga Mata sa Dilim’ with Derek Ramsay. The movie is set to premiere on September 13 on the iWant platform.

Asked about her working relationship with Derek, Jessy said that she’s long been wanting to work with the actor. And she’s happy that it finally happened via Mga Mata Sa Dilim.

“I’ve always wanted to work with him (Ramsay) and ‘yon, finally [it happened],” said Jessy

“He’s very professional, sobrang gentleman, and he’s kalog in real life,” she added. “Makikit a rin ‘yon sa film namin. Meron kaming mga light moments, may kilig moments kami.” she added.
