Did Xian Lim skip the ‘Untrue’ premiere night due to a conflict with director Sigrid Bernardo?

Lim defends himself and said, “You can insult me, mock me all you want, take everything away from me and strip me down to nothing, but don’t you dare question my professionality, passion, and the amount of work I am willing to put in my craft in all the projects I make. I may not be the best, but I will work my ass to give you results.”

During the Untrue premiere night, director Sigrid Andrea Bernardo priased lead stars Xian Lim and Cristine Reyes for being dedicated to the film.

“They are professional, they studied their lines and their roles. Si Xian nagpataba siya ng 20 pounds, he gained 20 pounds for this. I told him to gain 20 pounds, and he did. Si Cristine naman nagpakulay ng buhok.”

Moreover, Director Bernardo clarified that both Xian and Cristine were aware that they were not the first choice of actors for this film. But then, upon meeting the two leading stars, Bernardo acknowledged the dedication and effort that these two actors have exerted for the film.

Bernardo on the outcome of Untrue film

“Yes, I’m very happy with the outcome, they were surprisingly good. Before I got them, I studied their acting and different movies. Magaling naman sila but you know this is a different. With hard work talaga, yeah I’m very satisfied.”

When asked if she was disappointed with Lim, the director was hesitant at first to answer.

“No, anong controversy ‘yan? Lahat naman hindi naman maiiwasan hindi magka-problema.  At the end of the day, ang gusto ko lang magkaron ng maayos na pelikula, it’s not only for me but also for my actors. Lahat naman ng production may issue eh. Hindi ko alam sa kanya, siya na siguro tanungin ninyo kung sino yung pinapatamaan niya. Basta ako, I’m very happy with their work, I’m very very proud of them. I don’t know kung sino pinapatamaan niya, and ayoko sumali sa issue na ‘yon. Sa akin, gawin mo trabaho, gagawin ko trabaho as director and do your job as an actor, happy tayo.”

Bernardo has been very frank about all actors she has worked with

“I heard may pinapatamaan siya, siya dapat tanungin kung sino pinapatamaan niya. Ako I’m very frank person, very frank director. I will tell you what’s not good and what’s bad and this is for you to be a good actor, that’s it. I’m just doing my job as the director, and ayoko mapahiya ka bilang artista, ganun ako, not only to Xian to everyone, to all of my actors.”

During the interview, Bernardo was asked if things between her and Xian were okay. Bernardo frankly stated, “Hindi pa kami nag-uusap actually, I was waiting for  him sana to grace our premiere but he didn’t come so, hindi ko pa siya nakakausap.”

All the speculations linking Director Bernardo to Xian’s controversial post on Instagram started when the actor-turned-director Lim made a cryptic post regarding his professionalism.
